Well, now he's done it. Kennedy just removed the remaining 13 members of CDC's ACIP advisors. In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, he said it was "needed to re-establish public confidence in vaccine science." He claims the new committee will prioritize "evidence-based medicine." (HHS) This comes from Mr. Show-Me-the-Data, who when shown the data still claims vaccines cause autism.
The ACIP meeting at the end of the month will be more interesting than usual. Where's Kennedy going to find the replacement members and have them vetted for the conflicts of interest he claims tainted the fired committee in time for them to go over the ton of data to be discussed? It's a 3-day meeting to go over not just the COVID vaccines but also several other shots.
All they have to do is look at a recent editorial in Annals of Internal Medicine. The editor summaries all vaccine recommendations nicely.
I wonder if insurance companies will be smart enough to ignore ACIP and rely on Professional Societies
Poor Kennedy, he only had 4 external members whose terms were up in 2025. And the ACIP meeting was scheduled for June 24-27. Yikes, scientists and public health experts about to decide on vaccines? Can’t have THAT.
So he panics, fired them all.
Didn’t even just let them decide this fall’s flu shots.
