As fall vaccine eligibility remains unclear, HHS head Kennedy has now added uncertainty to COVID vaccines for kids and pregnant moms. This morning, he "couldn't be more pleased" to remove the COVID vaccines from the recommended schedule for healthy kids and pregnant moms (CBS News).
By various measures, the youngest and oldest still bear the greatest burden from COVID post-pandemic. Infants and toddlers, including healthy ones, need hospitalization and even ICU care for complications at rates rivaling their elders. Babies under 6 months are ineligible for vaccination and rely on the protection acquired from their moms being immunized, including in pregnancy.
Kennedy has taken away the choice for parents to take on any risk for the benefit of their children.
His decision by fiat without the usual due process of considering the scientific advice of FDA's VRBPAC and CDC's ACIP opens up a whole can of worms that apparently include the one that ate his brain.
